Heartsmith’s Jr. Rangers
A summer program for curious minds, kind hearts, and wild imaginations.
8 weeks of fun-filled adventure!
Although this year’s program will be indoor-based, our focus remains rooted in forest and wildlife conservation and social-emotional growth. Kids will explore the wonders of nature, teamwork, mindfulness, and more—through hands-on activities, storytelling, crafts, and guided reflection.
The Heartsmith Jr. Rangers program is a 8-week summer enrichment program designed for children ages 5–10. It offers an innovative blend of social-emotional learning, nature-based education, and evidence-based programming to help kids learn, grow, and play together while fostering a lifelong love for the environment.
Meet the Team
-
Cristina Heart
FOUNDER
It all begins with an idea. The idea that everyone deserves inclusive spaces that promote growing, learning, and playing.
Cristina is a mother of a child with autism, and a life-long advocate of inclusivity and equality.
-
Carla Strom
Adventure Guide
Carla brings valuable experience to the Jr. Rangers program through her previous work as a paraprofessional and her completion of the 7 Core Competencies Certificate through PaTTAN. She holds all required clearances and is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where every child can grow and explore.
-
LeAnn Guntrum
Adventure Guide
Leann is a licensed nurse with a strong background in both healthcare and youth support. She holds all required clearances and brings a calm, caring presence to the Jr. Rangers program. With her attention to safety and emotional well-being, Leann ensures each child feels seen, supported, and ready for adventure.
-
Tom
A big, soft-hearted sasquatch stuffie, and he’ll be hanging out in our sensory/quiet room—ready to offer hugs, comfort, or just a cozy presence when someone needs a little break.
Tom isn’t just adorable—he’s a reminder that it's okay to take a breather, feel your feelings, and rest when you need to. And honestly, he gives the best squishy hugs.
Mentorship Opportunity
We are currently seeking college-level volunteers—especially those studying education, child development, psychology, or related fields—to join us as Mentors.
Volunteers will:
Gain hands-on experience working directly with children
Support daily activities and assist our lead Adventure Guides
Participate in morning circles, creative projects, and reflective journaling
Build connections and make a meaningful impact in the lives of local youth
All Mentors will receive a letter of recommendation and proof of service hours upon request. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their learning in a real-world, heart-centered setting.
Sponsor a child for a week.
We are offering 3 spaces for all 8 weeks of our program for absolutely no cost to the family. You can help sponsor one of those kiddos for only $77 a week.
Donate 1, 2 or all 8 weeks, and be featured on our social media and website.
